Minar-i-Pakistan is one of the most important national monuments of the country. The site where the Minar-e-Pakistan is built is the exact place where the historic Pakistan Resolution was passed in 1940. The Minar expresses the spirit of that movement. It is one of the few additions to a conglomeration of old monumental structures that are in Lahore that were mostly built by Mughals. The base of the structure takes the shape of a five point star and is enclosed within crescent shaped pools. The overall height is approximately sixty meters and the entire structure is constructed of reinforced concrete and furbished with stone and marble walls and floors.

FATHER OF THE NATION:Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah

Father
of the Nation Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah's achievement
as the founder of Pakistan, dominates everything else he did in his long
and crowded public life spanning some
42
years. Yet, by any standard, his was an
eventful life, his personality multidimensional and his achievements in
other fields were many, if not equally great. Indeed, several were the
roles he had played with distinction: at one time or another, he was one
of the greatest legal luminaries India had produced during the first half
of the century, an `ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity, a great constitutionalist,
a distinguished parliamentarian, a top-notch politician, an indefatigable
freedom-fighter, a dynamic Muslim leader, a political strategist and, above
all one of the great nation-builders of modern times. What, however, makes
him so remarkable is the fact that while similar other leaders assumed
the leadership of traditionally well-defined nations and espoused their
cause, or led them to freedom, he created a nation out of an inchoate and
down-trodeen minority and established a cultural and national home for
it. And all that within a decase. For over three decades before the successful
culmination in 1947,
of the Muslim struggle for freedom in the South-Asian subcontinent, Jinnah
had provided political leadership to the Indian Muslims: initially as one
of the leaders, but later, since 1947, as the only prominent leader- the
Quaid-i-Azam. For over thirty years, he had guided their affairs; he had
given expression, coherence and direction to their ligitimate aspirations
and cherished dreams; he had formulated these into concerete demands; and,
above all, he had striven all the while to get them conceded by both the
ruling British and the numerous Hindus the dominant segment of India's
population. And for over thirty years he had fought, relentlessly and inexorably,
for the inherent rights of the Muslims for an honourable existence in the
subcontinent. Indeed, his life story constitutes, as it were, the story
of the rebirth of the Muslims of the subcontinent and their spectacular
rise to nationhood, phoenixlike.

White marbles is probably the most famous tombstone in Karachi, which appears in the media every time photos and Karachi mentioned. The structure of the mausoleum is bounded by a large park that until recently in disrepair. Recently, there have been dramatic improvements in the park, with the addition of trees, paved roads, a well-built, food courts, and the sources that actually work.
Largest Mosque in Pakistan The Faisal Mosque
Posted by Unknown on 07:24 with No comments
The Faisal Mosque is the largest mosque in Pakistan, located in the national capital city of Islamabad. Completed in 1986, it was designed byTurkish architect Vedat Dalokay to be shaped like a desert Bedouin’s tent.
It is situated at the north end of Faisal Avenue, putting it at the northernmost end of the city and at the foot of Margalla Hills, the westernmost foothills of the Himalayas. It is located on an elevated area of land against a picturesque backdrop of the Margalla Hills. This enviable location represents the mosque’s great importance and allows it to be seen from miles around day and night.
The Faisal Mosque is conceived as the National Mosque of Pakistan and named after the late King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia, who supported and financed the project.
It is the largest mosque in South Asia and one of the largest mosques in the world. The Faisal Mosque was the largest mosque in the world from 1986 until 1993, when it was overtaken in size upon the completion of the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. Subsequent expansions of the Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) of Mecca and the Al-Masjid al-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) in Medina, Saudi Arabia during the 1990s relegated Faisal Mosque to fourth place in terms of size.
History
The impetus for the mosque began in 1966 when the late King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz supported the initiative of the Pakistani Government to build a national mosque in Islamabad during an official visit to Pakistan.
In 1969, an international competition was held in which architects from 17 countries submitted 43 proposals. The mosque was designed by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay.[3] Construction of the mosque began in 1976 by National Construction of Pakistan, led by Azim Khan and was funded by the government of Saudi Arabia, at a cost of over 130 million Saudi riyals (approximately 120 million USD today). King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz was instrumental in the funding, and both the mosque and the road leading to it were named after him after his assassination in 1975. The mosque was completed in 1986, and used to house the International Islamic University.
Many conservative Muslims criticised the design at first for its non-conventional design and lack of the traditional dome structure, but virtually all criticism was eventually silenced by the mosque’s scale, form, and setting against the Margalla Hills upon completion.
