Wateen Takes Part in PITB Information Security Conference

Wateen Telecom was recently invited to participate in first ever Punjab Information Technology Board Information Security Conference.Wateen Telecom was represented at the event by its Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Faisal Sattar.Wateen telecom event's chief technology officer, said Mr. Faisal Sattar, has recently been invited to participate. The event aims to around information security awareness and organizations in the growing field of network security and business continuity challenges faced.

The meeting brought together various stakeholders from government, industry and academia to share their knowledge and experiences, and discuss how to effectively combat the latest threat information security. The many famous chief information officer, the person in charge of information security, researchers and professors took part in the event. The meeting raised awareness of information security and to improve the cooperation between universities, industry and government agencies, to address this important issue. Dr. Umar Saif, President Mahmoud PITB Nahil, Cloud Security Alliance founder and president of Pakistan, the people behind one event, which is held in Alpha Technology Park Lahore.

Commenting on the event, Mr. Faisal Sattar said, “With the rise of ‘bring your own device’ and commercialization of IT, Information Security should be given paramount importance by any organization in order to ensure business continuity and negating the more obvious threats of reputational damage and competitive disadvantage. This initiative by PITB is an inception towards the massive transformation required for creating awareness in this region and we at Wateen are certainly evangelists for such enterprises.”

Wateen to Deploy Fibre Optic Network in Sindh

Wateen Telecom has 449 million Pakistan rupees project to build a wide range of fiber-optic network, in Sindh province.USF Sindh province project needs km (1,037) Southern Telecom fiber network rollout.

PKR 449 million payment to USF subsidies in the form of the rest of the costs will be Wateen.

The new fiber optic network will connect the the 17 unserved cities and towns. Wateen hand in the Universal Service Fund (USF Co., Ltd.) to undertake the project of national importance, which will bridge the digital divide in the country a long way to go. USF subsidies, the project funds will provide the most advanced digital remote areas of Sindh province, the state of the infrastructure and the construction of IT, telecommunications, education, health and business services in these areas can be further developed.

This project has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on 23 February 2013, in Sanghar – Chak # 11 along with a number of telecommunications and health and education projects.

This new project is consistent with Wateen Telecom's commitment to lead the digital revolution in Pakistan. Wateen has been working for four fiber optic project with USF Balochistan and Sindh provinces in underserved areas, PKR 3.7 billion dollars in total value of subsidies. These existing projects involving over 4563 km fiber-optic network (Sindh and Balochistan)

Commenting on the project, Mr. Zamindar said " Wateen's vision is to provide complete communication and media solutions, including telephone, Internet, data and TV / multimedia and general public to take Pakistan into the 21st century digital revolution and to make Pakistan a regional communications hub between, connecting the east and the West and Central Asia and the Middle East, in the USF areas aligned with Wateen's vision, digital broadband revolution in Pakistan to the 21st century, and to promote education and literacy, by these means. "

وطین, سندھ میں فائبر آپٹک نیٹ ورک کی تعیناتی پر

وطین ٹیلی کام کو سندھ میں ایک جامع آپٹیکل ریشہ فائبر ورک تیار کرنے کے لئے 499 ملین پاکستانی روپوں کا منصوبہ دیا گیا ہے۔ یو ایس ایف سندھ کا منصوبہ جنوبی ٹیلی کام ریجن میں 1037 کلومیٹر سے زائد کی آپٹیکل فائبر بچھانے کے لیے ہے۔
 

499 ملین پاکستانی روپے کی رقم یو ایس ایف کی طرف سے سبسڈی کی شکل میں فراہم کی جائے گی باقی کی لاگت وطین برداشت کرے گا۔نیا آپٹیکل فائبر نیٹ ورک 17 ایسے شہروں اور قصبوں کو منسلک کرے گا جہاں انٹرنیٹ کی سہولیات میسر نہیں۔ وطین نے قومی اہمیت کے اس منصوبے کا بیڑہ اٹھانے کے لیے یونیورسل سروس فنڈ کمپنی (یو ایس ایف کمپنی) کے ساتھ اشتراک کیا ہے، جو ملک میں ڈیجیٹل تقسیم کے خاتمے کے لیے کافی آگے تک جائے گا۔ یو ایس ایف سبسڈی کے تحت فنڈ شدہ یہ منصوبہ سندھ کے دور دراز علاقوں کو جدید ڈیجیٹل انفرا اسٹرکچر فراہم کرے گا، اور ان علاقوں میں آئی ٹی، ٹیلی کام، تعلیم، صحت اور کاروباری سروسز کے لیے مزید کام کرے گا۔ 

 ٹیلی کمیونیکیشن اور صحت اور تعلیم کے منصوبوں کی ایک بڑی تعداد کے ساتھ ساتھ،اس منصوبے کا افتتاح 23 فروری 2013 کو سانگھڑ- چک #11 میں وزیر اعظم راجہ پرویز اشرف نے کیا۔

 یہ نیا منصوبہ وطین ٹیلی کام کے پاکستان میں ڈیجیٹل انقلاب لانے میں قائدانہ کردار ادا کرنے کے عہد کے مطابق ہے۔ وطین یو ایس ایف کے ساتھ پہلے ہی بلوچستان اور سندھ کے دور دراز علاقوں میں چار آپٹیکل فائبر منصوبوں پر کام کر رہا ہے، جن کی سبسڈیز کل 3.7 ارب روپے کی مالیت کی ہیں۔ یہ موجودہ منصوبے (سندھ اور بلوچستان میں) 4563 کلومیٹر کے آپٹیکل فائبر نیٹ ورکس پر پھیلے ہوئے ہیں۔

منصوبے پر تبصرہ کرتےہوئے وطین کے سی ای او نعیم زمیندار نے کہا کہ “وطین کا وژن عوام کو بڑے پیمانے پر مکمل کمیونی کیشنز اور میڈیا سلوشنز بشمول ٹیلی فونی، انٹرنیٹ، ڈیٹا اور ٹی وی ملٹی میڈیا پیش کر کے 21 ویں صدی میں پاکستان میں ڈیجیٹل انقلاب لانا ہے ، اور یوں پاکستان کو علاقائی رابطے کا مرکز بنانا ہے، جو مشرق کو مغرب کے ساتھ اور وسط ایشیا اور مشرق وسطیٰ کے ساتھ جوڑے، یو ایس ایف کے خطوں میں حصہ لینا 21 ویں صدی میں پاکستان میں ڈیجیٹل براڈبینڈ انقلاب لانے، اور ان ذرائع سے ملک میں تعلیم اور خواندگی کے فروغ، کے وطین کے وژن کے مطابق ہے۔
