Around 71 per cent of the total 33,310 complaints registered with
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) were against mobile phone
operators during last year.
As many as 99% of the complaints were redressed, most within the target timeline, which can be termed as significant achievement for the regulator.
Since mobile subscribers make up most of the total telecom subscriber base (120 million), 71% of the received complaints pertained to the mobile operators. The number of complaints against cellular operators is far less than the subscriber base of the companies which is a good sign for the sector.
It is mentioned here that the PTA has established an easy and reliable complaint management system at its headquarters so that consumers can lodge complaints via phone, fax, email, website and personal visits.
When received, the complaint is immediately taken up with the concerned operator and the complainant is kept in loop throughout till the effective resolution of the problem. The Authority has been updating existing consumer related regulations and devising new ones according to the changing dynamics of the telecom market.
