Sony yesterday announced the the scaled down version (in terms of size) of its Xperia Z smartphone, the Xperia ZR.

Sony Xperia ZR sports quad-core 1.5 GHz processor to seamlessly support all mobile computing needs. The main highlight is its waterproof capabilities - inherited from the Xperia Z - In fact, Sony is advertising, mobile phones can be taken underwater video and pictures.

Sony - it is called - to enhance a clear HD BRAVIA Engine2 of the reality show Xperia ZR. Reduce the screen size to 4.6 inches.

Other features include a 13.1-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and LED flash. Front camera for video calls is also available.

The the Xperia ZR provides 2GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot and run in the Android4.1 jelly beans.

Availability and Pricing:

Sony said that Xperia ZR will start shipping – around the world – in Q2 2013. It didn’t say any word on pricing but we anticipate it to be priced around 70,000 at the launch.
