A solution to open the Youtube seems around in Pakistan as Minister of State for Information and Technology- Anush Rehman Khan has taken one step forward in this direction.
A four member committee has been formed under the supervision of Member IT at Ministry of IT – Amir Malik who will look into various options that could help opening the largest video sharing website in Pakistan.
The committee will analyze some 8 million URLs for ensuring that blasphemous content is no more accessible in Pakistan, a local TV reports.
A ministry official was not available to comment on the mechanism of analyzing and filtering this huge number of URLs but the effort appears far from what is required to deal with the situation.
An official privy to the matter, while talking to MORE, stated that Intermediary Liability Protection (ILP) law is what required by Google to remove the unwanted blasphemous content from its server.
YouTube was blocked by government in Pakistan in September 2012 after a controversial and blasphemous movie – Innocence of Muslims – was displayed across the world. Government took the plea that it would make every effort to remove the content from the YouTube servers.
