Wateen Telecom has 449 million Pakistan rupees project to build a wide range of fiber-optic network, in Sindh province.USF Sindh province project needs km (1,037) Southern Telecom fiber network rollout.
PKR 449 million payment to USF subsidies in the form of the rest of the costs will be Wateen.
The new fiber optic network will connect the the 17 unserved cities and towns. Wateen hand in the Universal Service Fund (USF Co., Ltd.) to undertake the project of national importance, which will bridge the digital divide in the country a long way to go. USF subsidies, the project funds will provide the most advanced digital remote areas of Sindh province, the state of the infrastructure and the construction of IT, telecommunications, education, health and business services in these areas can be further developed.
This project has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on 23 February 2013, in Sanghar – Chak # 11 along with a number of telecommunications and health and education projects.
This new project is consistent with Wateen Telecom's commitment to lead the digital revolution in Pakistan. Wateen has been working for four fiber optic project with USF Balochistan and Sindh provinces in underserved areas, PKR 3.7 billion dollars in total value of subsidies. These existing projects involving over 4563 km fiber-optic network (Sindh and Balochistan)
Commenting on the project, Mr. Zamindar said " Wateen's vision is to provide complete communication and media solutions, including telephone, Internet, data and TV / multimedia and general public to take Pakistan into the 21st century digital revolution and to make Pakistan a regional communications hub between, connecting the east and the West and Central Asia and the Middle East, in the USF areas aligned with Wateen's vision, digital broadband revolution in Pakistan to the 21st century, and to promote education and literacy, by these means. "
